Dan Hooker Shares Video of Hand Surgery Stitch Removal

MMA News

Dan Hooker is making progress in his recovery from hand surgery, as shown in a recent update.

On Monday, the UFC lightweight veteran updated his social media with news about the hand surgery he underwent. This surgery addressed an injury that unfortunately forced him to withdraw from his scheduled UFC 313 fight against Justin Gaethje.

Hooker had previously posted images of his hand after the surgery. Now, it appears he has reached a stage where the stitches can be taken out, allowing his hand to continue healing. The video he shared concludes with a view of his hand, which seems to be recovering well.

Currently, there is no confirmed date for Hooker`s return to fighting. It is also uncertain if matchmakers still intend to book him in a fight against Gaethje. In UFC 313, Justin Gaethje instead faced Rafael Fiziev as a late replacement, in a rematch. Gaethje won the fight by unanimous decision, and both fighters were awarded a $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus.

Hooker is expected to be eager to return to the Octagon as soon as possible. He is currently enjoying a three-fight winning streak, his longest since 2020. His most recent victory was in August, at UFC 305, where he won a split decision against fellow top contender Mateusz Gamrot.
