Emma Raducanu of Great Britain delivered a commanding performance against Amanda Anisimova, advancing to the quarter-finals of the Miami Open.
The British No. 2 showcased impressive form in Miami, securing a comfortable 6-1, 6-3 victory over Anisimova. This win underscores Raducanu`s growing confidence in her game.
Raducanu was dominant in the first set, not conceding a single point on her serve. Her agility and court coverage proved too much for Anisimova, who struggled to find answers.
Despite Anisimova managing to hold serve in the fifth game after two breaks, her frustration was evident as Raducanu continued to control the set, breaking again to clinch it.
Anisimova requested medical attention after the first set and, although she continued, Raducanu maintained her positive momentum in the second set. While not as straightforward as the first, Raducanu effectively navigated her way to victory.
Raducanu secured a break in the fourth game of the second set but then lost her serve for the first time in the fifth as Anisimova adjusted her strategy and gained some confidence.
However, the former US Open champion quickly regained control, breaking Anisimova`s serve again in the sixth game and maintained her lead to secure the win in just 68 minutes on Butch Buchholz Court.
Raducanu`s next opponent in the quarter-finals will be the winner of the match between Marta Kostyuk and Jessica Pegula.
Raducanu: “I`ve Made Significant Progress This Week”
Reflecting on her victory over Anisimova, Raducanu emphasized the rapid progress she feels she has made in a short space of time.
The British player expressed a sense of freedom playing in Florida as she reached her first WTA 1000 quarter-final.

“I believe I`ve come a long way in the past week, especially since Indian Wells,” Raducanu commented. “I wasn`t feeling particularly positive about my tennis or anything in general, but this week, I`m surrounded by supportive people I trust and enjoy being around off the court, which is incredibly important.”
She added, “As someone who is very expressive, I play my best when I am authentic, true to myself, and creative. I`ve realized that when I feel restricted, I can`t express myself in the same way. I`m pleased to have recognized this again this week.”
Raducanu acknowledged that despite the scoreline, the match against Anisimova presented mental challenges due to her opponent`s unpredictable play.
“I sensed some fluctuations on the other side of the court,” Raducanu explained. “It`s really tough to maintain focus when your opponent mixes errors with sudden line-hitting winners, leaving you unsure of what to expect.”
“In a way, these matches are mentally more demanding because when the game is more consistent, you know you have to be focused on every point. I`m very happy with how I managed to overcome that.”
