Unfortunately, this highly anticipated fight seems no closer to materializing, despite Aspinall now holding the distinction of being the longest-reigning interim champion in UFC history. This prolonged uncertainty is naturally frustrating for Aspinall himself, but it is also noticeably increasing the impatience of the fanbase.
On Monday, Jones once again brought attention to his controversial title reign by responding to several fans on Twitter. He claimed he had communicated his future plans to the UFC “a long time ago” and stated that he would not be concerned if the promotion decided to strip him of his championship. This response, perhaps unsurprisingly, was met with significant negative feedback from fans who simply wish to see the undisputed champion face the interim champion to unify the division.
