Ante Delija is scheduled to make his inaugural appearance in the Ultimate Fighting Championship on September 6th.
The recently signed former PFL champion is set to step into the octagon for the first time against fellow veteran heavyweight Marcin Tybura, who holds a record of 27 wins and 9 losses, during the UFC Paris event. This fight pairing was initially reported by Eurosport.
Delija, with a professional record of 25-6, secured the PFL heavyweight tournament title in 2022, one year after finishing as the runner-up in the 2021 edition. His successful tournament run included victories over fighters like Matheus Scheffel, Shelton Graves, and Renan Ferreira. In the 2022 final, Delija once again defeated Scheffel to clinch the championship and claim the $1,000,000 grand prize.
He registered a 1-1 record in his final two appearances under the PFL banner before bouncing back with a first-round knockout victory against Yorgan De Castro at an event in Slovenia earlier this past April.
Tybura has maintained a consistent position in the UFC`s heavyweight rankings for nearly a decade. The accomplished Polish fighter is currently riding a two-fight winning streak, having recently defeated the previously undefeated Mick Parkin and Jhonata Diniz. He has secured wins in three of his last four contests. This upcoming bout will mark Tybura’s 23rd time competing inside the UFC octagon.
The UFC Paris fight card is headlined by a key middleweight contenders` clash between France`s own Nassourdine Imavov and Caio Borralho.
