MMA News

Jared Cannonier is scheduled to face a significant challenge in what will be his 20th appearance inside the UFC octagon.

The organization confirmed on Friday that Cannonier (sporting a record of 18 wins and 8 losses) is slated to compete against Michael “Venom” Page (23-3). This middleweight clash is set for UFC 319, which will take place on August 16th at the United Center in Chicago. The booking of this particular matchup was first reported by MagicM.

Cannonier, who currently holds the No. 11 position in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings, has been a part of the UFC roster for over a decade, having competed in three different weight categories. He previously fought for the UFC middleweight title at UFC 276, ultimately losing a decision to then-champion Israel Adesanya. Over his last five fights, Cannonier has compiled a record of 3 wins and 2 losses. His most recent outing was a victory over Gregory Rodrigues in February. His overall record within the UFC is 11 wins and 8 losses.

Page, widely recognized as a long-standing contender in the welterweight division and a former prominent fighter in Bellator, will be competing at 185 pounds for the second consecutive occasion. He made a noteworthy debut in the UFC middleweight division back in February, where he secured a victory by upsetting the previously undefeated Shara Bullet.

The main event for UFC 319 is a championship fight, with Dricus du Plessis scheduled to defend his middleweight title against the undefeated Khamzat Chimaev.
