Jessica Andrade Returning to Strawweight to Fight Loopy Godinez at UFC 319

MMA News

Former UFC strawweight champion Jessica Andrade is set to make a return to the 115-pound division. She is scheduled to face Loopy Godinez at UFC 319 on August 16th. This pay-per-view event is planned to take place at the United Center in Chicago.

The matchup has been confirmed by sources familiar with the plans.

UFC 319 is expected to feature a middleweight championship bout between titleholder Dricus Du Plessis and unbeaten contender Khamzat Chimaev as the main event.

Andrade (26-14) is returning to strawweight following a recent stint at flyweight. Her last two fights in the 115-pound division resulted in wins – a knockout of Mackenzie Dern and a decision over Marina Rodriguez. However, she is coming off consecutive losses at 125 pounds against Natalia Silva and Jasmine Jasudavicius.

Godinez (13-5) secured a decision victory over Julia Polastri in March, bouncing back from previous losses to Mackenzie Dern and Virna Jandiroba. A former LFA titleholder, Godinez holds an 8-5 record in the UFC since her debut in 2021, with notable wins including those against Tabatha Ricci and Cynthia Calvillo.
