Jon Jones dedicated part of his UFC 309 pre-fight preparation to perfecting a special move—not for his opponent Stipe Miocic, but for a celebratory dance.
Leading up to his heavyweight title defense at Madison Square Garden in November, where he decisively defeated Miocic in Miocic`s first fight in years, Jones, confident of victory, spent time during his warmup practicing a celebration.
With Donald Trump present at ringside, Jones planned to perform Trump`s signature dance. According to his cornerman Gordon Ryan, Jones meticulously rehearsed the dance.
Ryan recounted on Joe Rogan`s podcast how, upon learning of Trump`s attendance, Jones spent a significant portion of his warmup—around 15 to 20 minutes—studying and practicing the “Trump dance” mechanics.
They even watched YouTube videos of the dance to ensure Jones got it right in the locker room.
Rogan found the story amusing, commenting on Jones`s high confidence level to rehearse a victory dance before the fight.
Ryan added that the team fully supported Jones`s rehearsal, even providing feedback to refine his dance moves, treating it like any other fight technique.
