Loopy Godinez Jokes About ‘Diaper’ Solution After Close Call at UFC Mexico

MMA News

Loopy Godinez had a successful UFC Mexico appearance, securing a victory and narrowly avoiding an embarrassing situation.

A video clip from Godinez`s fight with Julia Polastri went viral after Godinez was heard telling her corner during a round break about severe stomach issues and the fear of an accident in the octagon.

Despite the discomfort, Godinez, ranked No. 11 in the strawweight division by MMA Fighting Global Rankings, managed to maintain composure and win a unanimous decision, ending her two-fight losing streak.

Both fighters were praised for their exciting match, and Godinez expressed relief at finishing the fight without any incidents.

Godinez mentioned to Inside Fighting that she started feeling unwell on Friday with chills, initially thinking it was due to low body fat from weight loss. She experienced diarrhea overnight and again before the fight.

“Between rounds, I felt it again and thought, ‘Oh no,’” Godinez recounted.

Godinez, who is originally from Mexico but trains in Canada, hopes to compete at the UFC 320 event in Guadalajara on September 13. She joked about a preventative measure for future digestive problems.

“Maybe next time, if I feel like this, I could wear a diaper,” Godinez quipped, suggesting a possible solution.

Currently, Godinez is pleased to be back on the winning track after losses to top contenders Mackenzie Dern and Virna Jandiroba. She credited mental strength for helping her through the fight with Polastri and avoiding what could have been a very embarrassing moment.

“I tried to ignore it before the fight,” Godinez explained. “Focusing on it would have been self-sabotaging. I just told myself I’d be okay, knowing that no fighter is ever 100 percent. I pushed through it and hoped for the best, and then I felt it again between rounds.”

“Thankfully, nothing happened. I acknowledged it, shared it, and now it’s out there.”

For context, it`s noted that some fighters have previously lost control of their bowels during fights, citing Justine Kish and Tim Sylvia as examples. Such incidents could lead to disqualification, though it`s rarely enforced.
