The main event at UFC Vegas 107 featuring Maycee Barber was canceled unexpectedly moments before she was due to make her walk to the octagon. This occurred after Barber experienced a last-minute medical emergency that prevented her from being cleared to compete.
The cancellation was announced right as Barber was preparing for her entrance.
This represents a significant setback for Barber, who had already been sidelined by health issues since March 2024, keeping her out for over a year. This new emergency postpones her return indefinitely, with no clear timeline for when she might compete again.
Following the news, her scheduled opponent, Erin Blanchfield, shared her reaction and what UFC officials communicated to her just before the fight was called off.
Blanchfield recounted, “Hunter [Campbell] came in and said she was having a seizure and medical issues, and wouldn`t be able to fight.” She added, “I knew immediately seeing him look so serious that it wasn`t good news. I`m still in a bit of disbelief.”
Leading up to the event, Blanchfield had previously voiced concerns regarding Barber`s history of health issues and whether she would be fit to compete on fight night.
After Saturday`s cancellation, Blanchfield stated she has no interest in rescheduling the fight against Barber in the future.
“No,” Blanchfield stated, “my coaches told me right away, `Don`t entertain her, she`s not on your level.`” She concluded, calling the situation “Super unprofessional.”
