Michael Page, a rising star in the UFC welterweight division, has expressed his desire to face either Kamaru Usman or Colby Covington in his upcoming fight.
Following a successful debut in the middleweight division at UFC Saudi Arabia, where he defeated Shara Magomedov, Page is keen to return to welterweight. Despite a convincing win at 185 pounds, “MVP” has consistently stated his preference for competing in the welterweight class.
Page has specifically named former welterweight champions Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington as his preferred opponents.
Speaking at a UFC London fan event, Page remarked on the silence from potential opponents after his recent victory. He stated that a fight against Usman would be exciting and also expressed a strong desire to face Covington, though humorously adding he wants to punch Covington for unspecified reasons. Page emphasized his readiness and is waiting for a response from top contenders.
Since joining the UFC, Page has achieved a 2-1 record, including a victory over Kevin Holland at UFC 299. His only UFC loss was a close decision against Ian Machado Garry at UFC 303.
If a fight with Covington materializes, Page aims for a spectacular knockout, reminiscent of his memorable finish against Evangelista Santos at Bellator 158 in 2016. That fight marked the end of Santos` career.
Page hopes to secure two more significant fights before the year concludes. He reiterated his ambition to fight Covington and then another highly ranked opponent in the top 10 or top 5 of the welterweight division, considering it a successful year if he achieves these goals.
