MMA World Reacts to Cain Velasquez’s Prison Sentence for Attempted Murder

MMA News

Cain Velasquez is facing a prison term, and he is receiving support from his fellow fighters.

On Monday, the former UFC heavyweight champion was sentenced for his involvement in a shooting incident in February 2022. Velasquez was engaged in a high-speed chase and fired multiple shots at a vehicle carrying Harry Goularte. Goularte is awaiting trial on child molestation charges, with Velasquez`s four-year-old son allegedly being a victim.

Velasquez was sentenced to five years in prison for attempted murder and other charges. He pleaded no-contest, and his sentence includes credit for three years already served. This means he is expected to spend no more than two years in prison.

Throughout this ordeal, Velasquez`s fellow fighters have shown their support. Former UFC champion Chris Weidman expressed his dismay, saying, “This is awful.”
