Nate Diaz often finds himself in the midst of dramatic situations.
The latest example of this unfolded when the popular fighter traveled to Thailand for a reality show similar to `The Ultimate Fighter,` intended to feature UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones. However, filming abruptly halted on the first day after Diaz became involved in an altercation with one of the participants, escalating into a full-blown brawl.
Recently, Diaz shared behind-the-scenes footage on his YouTube channel chronicling his trip to Thailand, which included his initial meeting with Jones and the subsequent fight.
In a pre-show interview alongside Jones, Diaz expressed his uncertainty:
“I don’t know,” Diaz said. “I don’t know what I got in to. I just came in, they were already going at it with each other. I was on The Ultimate Fighter, so I imagine it’s going to be pretty crazy.”
Despite no serious injuries resulting from the clash, Diaz and his group decided to leave the production and continue their travels through Thailand and later Hong Kong.
Speaking briefly about the incident, Diaz voiced his disappointment and suggested others were provoking him.
He commented:
“Came out to do a little reality show with Jon Jones. I was looking forward to hanging out with Jones and the team and everybody and it didn’t work out because they the opps. We ain’t f*cking with any of them Russians. But anyways, they ain’t f*cking with me, so that’s what it is.”
Diaz, who recently turned 40 in April, is currently taking a break from active competition while planning his next career move. His last appearance in the UFC was in September 2022, where he secured a submission victory over Tony Ferguson in his final bout under contract before moving into professional boxing.
In his pro boxing debut, Diaz lost a unanimous decision to Jake Paul. However, he bounced back with a decision win against fellow former UFC contender Jorge Masvidal in July of the previous year.
