As the Stanley Cup Playoffs draw near, several NHL teams are facing challenges with key players sidelined due to injuries. The Edmonton Oilers, a strong contender for the Stanley Cup, are dealing with injuries to their star players, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Both are expected to be out for the next few games, with the earliest possible return date around April 1st. Leon Draisaitl currently leads the league in goals with 49 and is second in points with 101, while Connor McDavid is also among the top players in the league`s scoring charts.

The absence of McDavid and Draisaitl is a significant blow to the Oilers, who are in a tight race for playoff positioning in the Pacific Division with the Vegas Golden Knights and Los Angeles Kings. Their injuries could impact Edmonton`s chances of securing home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

The Florida Panthers, the other finalist from last year`s Stanley Cup Final, are also facing injury concerns. Star forward Matthew Tkachuk has been placed on Long-Term Injured Reserve (LTIR) due to a groin injury sustained during the 4 Nations Face-Off and is expected to remain out until the playoffs. General Manager Bill Zito indicated on March 3rd that they are hopeful for Tkachuk`s return for the postseason.
