NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs 2025: Schedule, Scores, and Latest Updates

NHL News

The Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers are performing in the 2025 NHL Playoffs as if to prove their strong 2024 runs were no accident. The Oilers secured their spot by eliminating the Vegas Golden Knights with a 1-0 overtime victory on Wednesday night, taking the series 4-1. Meanwhile, the reigning Stanley Cup champion Panthers followed up two home wins in Games 3 and 4 by dominating the Toronto Maple Leafs on the road, scoring six unanswered goals en route to a convincing 6-1 win, setting up a potential series-clinching game back in South Florida on Friday night.

Edmonton`s goaltender, Stuart Skinner, overcame a shaky start to the series against Vegas, where he allowed 10 goals in the first three games. He finished exceptionally strong, stopping all 45 shots faced over the final six-plus periods across Games 4 and 5. Kasperi Kapanen netted the decisive goal at 7:14 of overtime by poking in a loose puck in the crease, sending the Oilers to their second consecutive Western Conference Final. They are now awaiting the outcome of the series between the Winnipeg Jets and Dallas Stars, which Dallas currently leads 3-1.

In the Eastern Conference, Florida`s six-goal performance was part of a remarkable streak of nine unanswered goals dating back to their overtime winner in Game 3 last Friday. Florida also won Game 4 with a 2-0 shutout. On Wednesday, Sergei Bobrovsky nearly achieved back-to-back shutouts, stopping the first 31 shots before conceding a goal with just over a minute left. Jesper Boqvist and A.J. Greer both scored their first career playoff goals, and defensemen Aaron Ekblad, Dmitry Kulikov, and Niko Mikkola also contributed offensively, finding the back of the net.
