Patchy Mix Signs with UFC, Debut Scheduled vs. Mario Bautista at UFC 315

MMA News

Patchy Mix is officially set to compete under the UFC banner.

The highly regarded former Bellator bantamweight champion, widely recognized as the premier 135-pound fighter outside of the UFC, has found a new home within the promotion following his recent release from the PFL.

His first appearance in the octagon is scheduled relatively soon, with Mix slated to face Mario Bautista at the upcoming UFC 315 event on June 7, taking place in Newark, New Jersey.

The announcement regarding Mix`s signing and debut was made during the UFC Vegas 106 broadcast held on Saturday.

Mix arrives in the UFC boasting an impressive professional record of 20 wins and just 1 loss, with 15 of those victories coming by stoppage. During his successful run with Bellator, he secured notable wins over fighters such as Kyoji Horiguchi, Magomed Magomedov, Sergio Pettis, and Raufeon Stots.

He is currently enjoying a strong seven-fight winning streak. This run includes capturing the Bellator bantamweight title and successfully defending it in his last outing, which occurred back in May 2024.

Mix had previously voiced frustration over a significant period of inactivity while signed with PFL and ultimately requested his contractual release. The PFL ultimately agreed, issuing a statement confirming they would not extend Mix`s contract and he was free to sign with any other organization.

Predictably, it didn`t take long for Mix to finalize a deal with the UFC. He was immediately booked into a prominent matchup against Mario Bautista after Bautista`s original opponent, Marlon “Chito” Vera, was forced to withdraw from the card due to injury.

Mario Bautista himself is on a remarkable run, having won seven consecutive fights, including a split decision victory over former champion Jose Aldo. He is expected to provide a tough welcoming challenge for Mix when they meet at UFC 315.

The UFC 315 card is scheduled to feature two major title fights at the top: Bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili is listed to face Sean O’Malley in a rematch, while Julianna Pena is scheduled to put her bantamweight strap on the line against two-time Olympic gold medalist Kayla Harrison.
