Jackson McVey is confirmed to make his UFC pay-per-view debut.
Sources familiar with the promotion`s plans have confirmed that McVey will step in on short notice – less than two weeks – to fight Brunno Ferreira at UFC 318. The event is scheduled for July 19 at the Smoothie King Arena in New Orleans. This matchup was initially reported by Laerte Viana.
McVey is replacing Ikram Aliskerov, who announced on Instagram that a broken toe sustained during training camp forced him out of the fight against Ferreira. Aliskerov, an undefeated middleweight, was previously scheduled to fight Christopher Ewert at UFC 317, but that bout was cancelled when Ewert missed weight. Aliskerov recently fought in June at LFA 210, securing a quick 98-second finish.
This will be Brunno Ferreira`s seventh appearance in the Octagon as he looks for his fifth UFC win. In his last outing at UFC 313, known as “The Hulk,” he defeated Armen Petrosyan via a second-round armbar submission.
The UFC 318 card is headlined by a highly anticipated trilogy bout for the BMF title between Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier, a fight Poirier has indicated may be his last.
