Former President Donald Trump has revealed a significant plan to host a Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event at the White House. Speaking at a rally in Iowa on Thursday, Trump announced the potential event as part of the United States` ambitious celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, scheduled for 2026.
Trump outlined his vision for the event, suggesting it would be a major championship fight held directly on the White House grounds, with the capacity to accommodate an estimated 20,000 to 25,000 spectators.
Highlighting his strong bond with UFC CEO Dana White, Trump stated that White is committed to making this unique event a reality. He described White as “great” and “one of a kind.” Trump emphasized that while the 250th anniversary celebrations would include various professional and amateur events, the UFC fight is expected to be a major highlight.
Trump is known for his frequent attendance at UFC events and his close ties to the organization and its athletes. He was recently seen cageside at UFC 316 in New Jersey, where several fighters acknowledged his presence.
While Washington D.C. has previously hosted UFC cards, staging a large-scale sporting event directly on the historic grounds of the White House would be an unprecedented move. The specifics of how such an event would be logistically managed remain to be determined.
In addition to the potential UFC event, Trump mentioned other ideas for the American 250 celebrations, including the “Patriot Games,” designed to bring together youth athletes from all 50 states to compete in various sports.
The announcement of a potential White House event adds an interesting layer to the UFC`s strategic planning, particularly as the company prepares for negotiations surrounding its broadcast rights deal which is also set for 2026. Hosting such a high-profile and historic event could significantly boost the promotion`s value and appeal in future media partnerships.
