At UFC 317, Joshua Van and Brandon Royval were recognized with significant post-fight bonuses for their outstanding flyweight encounter. Their battle delivered high action over three rounds, thrilling the audience at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and quickly emerging as a leading contender for Fight of the Year.
Although Joshua Van ultimately secured the victory via unanimous decision, both competitors were awarded $50,000 bonuses. Their exciting clash was rightfully named the Fight of the Night for the event held on Saturday.
In addition to the Fight of the Night honors, Performance of the Night bonuses were also distributed. These went to Ilia Topuria and Gregory Rodrigues, both of whom delivered memorable knockout finishes.
Ilia Topuria`s performance was particularly historic. He needed less than half of the first round to land a knockout blow against the highly respected Charles Oliveira, thereby claiming the vacant lightweight championship. This latest triumph marks Topuria`s third consecutive victory in a UFC title fight (following wins over Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway at featherweight) and extends his flawless promotional record to an impressive 9-0 start.
Gregory Rodrigues also earned his bonus with a powerful knockout during the preliminary card. “Robocop” finished fellow middleweight veteran Jack Hermansson with a concussive punch that left Hermansson stiff. This spectacular finish earned Rodrigues his fifth post-fight bonus from the UFC.
