The official weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 107 saw some notable issues, primarily with Maycee Barber missing weight for her co-main event bout against Erin Blanchfield. Barber, a flyweight contender, weighed in at 126.5 pounds, which is half a pound over the 126-pound limit allowed for a non-title fight. Erin Blanchfield successfully made weight at 125 pounds.
UFC officials confirmed that despite the miss, the fight between Barber and Blanchfield will still take place as a catchweight bout. As a penalty for missing weight, Maycee Barber will forfeit 20 percent of her fight purse. Barber`s weight miss could potentially impact her standing in the flyweight division, regardless of the outcome of the fight.
In addition to Barber, flyweight Allan Nascimento also missed weight, coming in at 127.5 pounds, 1.5 pounds over the limit. His fight against Jafel Filho is also expected to proceed at a catchweight with a penalty for Nascimento.
Further complications arose with a fight cancellation. A planned 180-pound catchweight bout between Trevin Giles and Andreas Gustafsson was canceled due to an injury sustained by Giles. Giles was reportedly stepping in on short notice as a replacement fighter.
Another weight-related change affected the bantamweight bout between Ketlen Vieira and Macy Chiasson. Due to weight management difficulties on Ketlen Vieira`s side, the fight was changed to a featherweight contest. Vieira will forfeit 25 percent of her purse as a result of this change.
In more positive news, the lightweight co-main event fighters, Mateusz Gamrot and Ludovit Klein, both successfully made the 156-pound limit.
