An MMA cage became the unexpected cause of defeat in a recent fight.
In an incredibly strange turn of events at an Anthony Pettis FC event in Milwaukee, lightweight fighter Kurtis Ellis experienced a loss due to a verbal submission. The reason? His finger got inexplicably stuck in the cage fencing.
The bewildering scene unfolded during Ellis’s match against Brandon Evans. Evans had been pressuring Ellis against the cage in the third round, a pattern consistent throughout the fight. However, when Ellis attempted to defend himself by placing his hand on the cage, a finger became lodged in the fencing, leaving him unable to free it.
Ellis was heard exclaiming in pain that his finger was stuck. Referee Tom Develice intervened to stop the fight and declared Evans the winner by verbal submission due to this unusual circumstance.
Anthony Pettis, the founder of APFC, succinctly expressed the general bewilderment at the situation, commenting simply, “Wtf.”
